Getting Started

You've just purchased a Domain Name, and decided to sign up with us.  GREAT!, but where do you go from here?

STEP 1:  Decide on a CMS

If you are not already a CMS (Content Management System) customer, you may want begin today.  You can always design, or ask us to design the site for you, but chances are, there has already been a site made that will match much of what you are looking for.  If you do not use CMS, you will constantly need to be going into the HTML code and making changes to your site, to add menu items, and other content.

Sadly, for some, they choose this option, not realizing that everytime they make a change to their menu choices, they have have to edit each webpage currently in existance to add or remove the menu items they wanted to change.  This is very tedious, and believe me, you will eventually miss one.

CMS offers a solution thats a win win.  We setup the CMS manager for you.  You in turn decide on the template you want to use for the site, and then you start adding articles, without having to worry about editing tons of HTML documents.  There is also a wide variety of useful programs you can add to a CMS.

CMS's are designed to be search engine friendly, and will give you much greater search engine optimization than you could write yourself, unless your an SEO expert.  With all the other technology out there to learn, why not let the CMS handle most of the technology for you.

Step 2: Decide on a Look, or make your own

I am talking about templates.  There are thousands out there to be browsed by you, and if you find one you like, you can use it on your site.  Some templates cost money, some are free, and some come with a monthly or annual subscriptions.  If you decided to go with a CMS site, try to pick a template thats already written for your CMS.  I have reviewed 2 for you that I would recommend.  This site is itself currently using a Rockettheme Template.

Step 3: Educate Yourself

It's always a Good Idea to try to learn as much about something as you can, as this allows you the ability to have more say in what you want or expect.  Finally, there is an online video learning company that will help anyone that wants to learn better understand how computers work in general, and how applications work specifically.

I have reviewed VTC in the following article.  Check it out.

Finally, I want to make it clear, that if you are our customer, you are not alone in the decision process.  We will help you make the best decisions for your company/ministry, and we will provide assistance in helping to bring your website to all that you hoped it would be.
